I wasn't raised with a strong faith in my childhood. However, as a baby, I was baptized Evangelical Lutheran by my parents. By a wonderful coincidence, I decided on my own to get confirmed as a teenager. During the confirmation preparation period, I got to know the church and came into contact with the Bible for the first time. But I often struggled with the Lutheran Bible translation. I never truly understood what I was reading. It felt too difficult, so I quickly gave up on "real" Bible reading.
It wasn’t until years later that I realized I had actually read the Bible as a child. With the book series "People in God's Hands," which was once under the Christmas tree, I had unknowingly read through the Old and New Testament in a wonderful and child-friendly format during my childhood.
Only four years ago, I started exploring different Bible translations more closely. I found many translations online and began reading a lot. It felt like a miracle that I could immediately understand much of it and apply it to my life.
Then I bought myself a beautiful Schlachter 2000 Bible and some highlighters. Reading the Bible - while marking important and interesting passages - became one of my favorite activities. Since then, I’ve added several beautiful Bibles and even children’s Bibles to my collection.
When I discovered the YouVersion Bible App, prayer and reading plans became an integral part of my morning wake-up routine.
I look forward to every personal exchange!
